Winner RibbonAfter many years of owning an older fixer-upper home and tackling most of the renovations themselves, these clients decided to downsize to a townhome for their next phase of life. The location was right, and the square footage was just enough for what they needed but not too much to care for. However, the layout and location of the kitchen was a major issue for them. It was tucked away in the front of the home and closed off with walls on every side. Only one small window provided a limited amount of natural light. This was a significant problem for them and how they desired to entertain and have the kitchen be the heart of their new home. Based on some life circumstances, the clients knew they had to hire a contractor to perform the work this time. It was a big step for them to trust a builder to handle this project. They interviewed several and developed an immediate trust and relationship with Metzler Home Builders. They worked with an interior designer friend on the conceptual plan of how to relocate the kitchen. Metzler helped bring that vision to a reality by dialing in the design and confirming some critical dimensions to avoid pinch points in this narrow-footprint townhome. As with many renovation projects, a few unknowns were uncovered through the demolition process, but in the end, the vision was kept intact, and the kitchen was relocated to the heart of the home in close proximity to the existing living space. The existing kitchen space was re-purposed as a powder room and laundry room, and the entire flow and feel of the townhome was dramatically improved.
